POLK COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Danny Hawthorne, of Auburndale, Florida, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal vehicle crash in Polk County.
Hawthorne, 56, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Auburndale early Wednesday morning.

According to reports, Hawthorne was operating a Saturn Ion on Lake Alfred Road near Adams Barn Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle then made contact with a utility pole.
Hawthorne was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
