STARK COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Joeallen Meeley, of Canton, Ohio, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Monday morning motorcycle crash in Stark County.

“Joe Petty” Meeley, 32, was killed in a motorcycle crash involving a possible impaired driver early Monday morning near Perry Township.

According to reports, Meeley was operating a Yamaha V-Star Motorcycle on Southway Street Southwest near Stardale Avenue Southwest in Perry Township, when he was rear-ended by a Dodge Charger, operated by 30-year-old Joshua Gibson of Massillon. The Charger then continued through a fence before coming to rest on a dirt embankment around 3 a.m. Monday.

Meeley, who was ejected from the bike during the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Gibson was transported to an area hospital an eventually booked into the Stark County Jail on charges of Assured Clear Distance Ahead, Operating a Vehicle Impaired, Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and Seatbelt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
