TEL AVIV, ISRAEL. (THECOUNT) — China’s ambassador to Israel, Du Wei, was found dead in his Tel Aviv home on Sunday, according to an Israeli police spokesman.
Wei, 57, was found unresponsive in his home in Herzliya near Tel Aviv Sunday. The death caused local police to launch an investigation into his death.

According to Israeli media, Wei, who formally served at China’s ambassador to Ukraine, was found deceased while located in his bed.
Early indications cited Wei dying “in his sleep,” while at his residence.
Officials noted his death appears to be of “natural causes.,” however, police did not officially comment on Wei’s cause of death.
Wei was installed as ambassador to Israel in February, according to the embassy’s website.
He leaves behind a wife and son.
