WALKER COUNTY, GA. (THECOUNT) — McKay Bergeson, of Bountiful, Utah, has been identified as the missionary killed while serving in Tennessee.

Bergeson, 19, was killed while operating a bicycle in LaFayette, Georgia, Saturday.

According to reports, the Elder was riding his bicycle with a fellow Elder, when he was struck by a passing vehicle Saturday, according to a spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“We express our sympathy and heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones as they mourn his passing and remember his life,” according to Church spokesman Daniel Woodruff. “We pray they feel the love of our Heavenly Father at this difficult time.”

Bergeson had been serving the church since December 2019.

The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
