HAMMOND, LA. (THECOUNT) — Michael T. Jones of Jasper, Michigan, has been identified as the victim in a two-vehicle crash in Hammond, Louisiana.
Michael Jones, 77, was killed early Saturday morning in Hammond in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 12, according to Louisiana State Police.

According to officials, Jones was operating a GMC Sierra pickup truck on I-12 near Pumpkin Center Rd, when he was struck from behind by a Mazda 3 operated by Caitlin D. Jones of Mobile, Alabama, around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
The force of the impact sent both vehicle into a grouping of trees.
Michael Jones, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Caitlin Jones, who was not wearing a seatbelt, received minor injuries.
Impairment is suspected on the part of Caitlin Jones.
Caitlin Jones was arrested and will be booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail for Vehicular Homicide, Following Too Close, and Safety Belt Required, reports FOX8.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
