FRANKLIN COUNTY, WA. (THECOUNT) — Russell McElroy, owner of Tri-Cities Hydroplane, has been identified as the pedestrian killed in a train collision on Thursday evening, according to reports.

McElroy, 59, of Pasco, was fatally struck by a train in Franklin County on Thursday evening at 5:10 pm.

According to Franklin County investigators, train engineers witnessed a pedestrian on the tracks and were unable to stop before striking McElroy.

McElroy was pronounced dead at the scene of massive blunt force trauma.

The Franklin County Coroner has ruled McElroy’s death a suicide.

He was a major advocate for the Tri-Cities Water Follies and an avid photographer, according to KEPR.
