MUSCATINE, IA. (THECOUNT) — Devin Estabrook, of Letts, has been identified as the Iowa firefighter killed while riding a bicycle in Muscatine in an apparent hit-and-run on Wednesday morning.

Estabrook, 49, was operating a bicycle near U.S. Highway 61 & 41st Street South, in Muscatine, IA, when the fatal collision occurred just before 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Authorities are now seeking the hit-and-run driver who struck and killed the Grandview Fire Department firefighter as he was bicycling early Monday in eastern Iowa.

Estabrook was transported to a hospital in Peoria, Illinois, via helicopter, where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma.

The Grandview Fire Department, officials with the city posted on their Facebook page.

“It is with sincere sadness we say goodbye to one of our own Firefighters; Devin Estabrook, due to a tragic accident on August 12th, 2019,” the post read. “We send our prayers and condolences to his family, friends, coworkers, and firefighters,” PressCitizen.

The Muscatine Police Department and Iowa State Patrol are asking anyone with information on who the driver was to contact Lt. Anthony Kies of the Muscatine Police Department at 563-263-9922, extension 608, or private message any information to the department’s Facebook page.
