Police were on the scene in less than a minute after they say Dewey fired from three to eight gunshots striking Fowler an unknown number of times.

Dewey was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, attempted escape, and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

Authorities seized a vehicle they believed from reviewing surveillance video to be involved, and said Dewey was the driver, reports KLKNTV.

Police said they believe Dewey is the only one responsible for the shooting.

It is unclear if Fowler was pronounced dead at the scene or was transported to an area hospital and later died as that information was not provided.

Lincoln Police say they know there are other witnesses who have information that have not come forward, and they are asking for the public’s help with the investigation.

Anyone with possible information should contact police right away at 911.

According to reports, Fowler was a father of one, and leaves behind many other family members in the city.
