SAVANNAH, GA. (THECOUNT) — Sgt. Kelvin Ansari has been identified as the Savannah, GA police officer killed in the line-of-duty on Saturday.

Ansari, a 10-year veteran of the force, was killed in a Bull Street shooting on Saturday.

In a Facebook post Sunday, Georgia’s governor identified the Savannah Police officer who died after a shooting on Bull Street. Gov. Brian Kemp identified Ansari as the officer who died after approaching a robbery suspect.

Kemp says the Sergeant served with the U.S. Army for two decades before joining the Savannah Police Department, according to WSAV.
