MT. PLEASANT, TX. (THECOUNT) — Derry D. Chism, of Peoria, Illinois, has been identified as the victim killed in a crash on Interstate 30 near Mt. Pleasant Monday afternoon.
Chism, 46, of was operating a Lexus GX470 on Interstate 30 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, when he collided with a Freightliner truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer operated by Joshua Allan Beach, 30, of Sulphur Springs, TX.

According to Texas DPS, the preliminary crash investigation revealed that Beach was stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 30 shortly after 2:00 p.m., when for unknown reasons, Chism crossed centerlines, exited the roadway and struck the back of the semi-trailer.
The Lexus rolled several times during the violent crash.
Chism, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle following the collision.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Beach was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
The crash remains under investigation, reports EastTexasMatters.
