DOVER, DE. (THECOUNT) — Chaqui Batson, of Dover, DE, has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed while walking on US-13 in Dover on Sunday.
Batson, 23, was on foot when he was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound on US 13 near Barney Jenkins Road around 8:15 p.m.

Reports say the victim was dressed in all dark clothing.
Batson was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.
A pedestrian was walking south in the left lane north of Barney Jenkins Road when he was struck by the Nissan Murano. After impact, the pedestrian was thrown onto the southbound shoulder where he came to rest on the edge of the roadway. source
The driver, a 24-year-old male from Salisbury, Maryland, was properly restrained and not injured.
No one was cited at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
