Although police say the death appears to be a tragic accident, it’s unclear if the death is suspicious.

“The subject slipped and fell head-first into a void or open area within the garbage,” Iron Mountain Police said. “This void or open area was approximately 5 feet deep and inside (the) dumpster. Preliminary cause of death, pending toxicology results, has been determined to be accidental.” source

Police say Bowman died of positional asphyxiation when she became stuck in a small space and could not get enough oxygen.

Anyone with possible information on the death should contact police at 911.
