Deputies said the fatal crash occurred at approximately 11:27 p.m. near the intersection of Jog Road and Jog Park Drive in central Palm Beach County. Investigators reported that an SUV was traveling southbound on Jog Road in the center lane at what authorities described as a high rate of speed when the collision occurred.
According to the sheriff’s office, Alzate was operating a Kawasaki Z650 motorcycle northbound on Jog Road. As he approached the area near Jog Park Drive, he began making a left turn across the southbound lanes in an apparent attempt to travel west. While crossing those lanes, the motorcycle entered the path of the oncoming SUV.
The front of the SUV struck the motorcycle, deputies said. The force of the impact ejected Alzate from the bike. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.
Authorities have not released the identity of the SUV driver. It is unclear at this time whether any injuries were reported inside the vehicle. Law enforcement officials have not indicated whether impairment, distraction, or excessive speed will ultimately be determined to have contributed to the crash. The investigation remains active.
Jog Road is a heavily traveled north-south corridor running through Palm Beach County, connecting residential communities including Greenacres and Lake Worth. Late-night traffic along the roadway can include both passenger vehicles and motorcyclists, and deputies frequently respond to crashes along the stretch.
The Kawasaki Z650 involved in the crash is a mid-sized sport motorcycle known for its performance capabilities and quick acceleration. Officials did not release details regarding the speed of the motorcycle at the time of impact or whether Alzate was wearing protective gear.
Crash investigators are expected to review physical evidence from the roadway, vehicle damage patterns, and any available surveillance footage from nearby properties to determine the precise sequence of events. Witness statements may also play a role in clarifying how the collision unfolded.
Under Florida law, left-turning drivers are required to yield to oncoming traffic that constitutes an immediate hazard. However, investigators will assess all contributing factors before determining fault. No charges have been announced as of Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office has asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to contact the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division.
The fatal collision marks another tragic loss on Palm Beach County roadways, where law enforcement officials continue to emphasize traffic safety awareness for both motorists and motorcyclists. Authorities routinely urge drivers to remain alert, obey speed limits, and exercise caution when navigating intersections and making turns across multiple lanes of traffic.
Further details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
