MINNEAPOLIS, MN — (THECOUNT) Alex Pretti, the man fatally shot by federal agents in Minneapolis earlier this month, appears in newly released video engaging with federal immigration officers during a separate confrontation approximately 11 days before his death, and a family representative has confirmed the individual in the footage is Pretti.
The video, recorded January 13, shows Pretti approaching a federal vehicle during an immigration enforcement operation in south Minneapolis. In the footage, Pretti appears to spit toward agents and strike a federal SUV, damaging a taillight, as officers attempt to maintain control of the scene. At one point, a gun can be seen tucked in Pretti’s waistband.

According to previously reported information from law enforcement sources, the confrontation escalated when Pretti continued advancing toward agents. Officers exited the vehicle and restrained him on the ground. No serious injuries were reported during that incident.
Federal authorities have confirmed the individual depicted in the video is Pretti. Officials have not stated whether criminal charges were filed in connection with the January 13 encounter.
The newly surfaced footage has drawn renewed attention following Pretti’s death on January 24, when he was shot during a separate confrontation with U.S. Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis. Federal officials have emphasized that the fatal incident remains under active investigation and that the January 13 encounter has not been publicly linked to the later shooting.
