LIVERPOOL, N.Y. (THECOUNT) — Isaac Joseph Signorelli, 33, of Liverpool, New York, has been identified as the pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle Friday evening near a busy intersection in the village of Liverpool, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the fatal collision occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, along Morgan Road, near its intersection with Grampian Road/ Steelway Blvd. Investigators say a vehicle traveling northbound on Morgan Road struck Signorelli as he was in or near the roadway. The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.

Witnesses at the scene immediately called 911 and attempted to provide lifesaving aid to Signorelli until first responders arrived. Deputies with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, along with emergency medical personnel, responded to the scene within minutes. Due to the severity of his injuries, Signorelli was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for emergency treatment.
Despite medical intervention, Signorelli was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, officials confirmed.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit has taken over the case and is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have not released details regarding whether speed, visibility, impairment, or roadway conditions may have played a role, nor have they announced whether any citations have been issued. No arrests have been reported in connection with the incident as of this time.
Investigators have also not publicly stated whether Signorelli was using a marked crosswalk or whether the driver remained at the scene following the collision. Authorities say additional information may be released once the investigation progresses.
As a result of the crash, Morgan Road was closed in both directions for several hours Friday evening while deputies documented the scene, collected evidence, and conducted preliminary measurements. The roadway reopened to traffic at approximately 9:05 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
The intersection of Morgan Road and Grampian Road is a well-traveled area in Liverpool, particularly during evening hours, and is surrounded by residential neighborhoods and local traffic corridors. Officials have not indicated whether traffic pattern changes or safety improvements are being considered following the fatal incident.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office reminded drivers to remain alert for pedestrians, especially during dusk and nighttime hours when visibility can be reduced. Pedestrians are also urged to use caution near roadways and remain aware of traffic conditions.
