Officials said a woman was traveling westbound on Highway 90 when Greenwood, driving a white truck, collided with her vehicle. Taylor’s vehicle was also damaged in the collision.

Video evidence reviewed by authorities reportedly shows Greenwood and Taylor engaged in a verbal argument following the crash. During the confrontation, Taylor is seen blaming Greenwood for causing the collision.

Investigators said the video shows Taylor reaching into his pocket as Greenwood begins to back away and flee from the confrontation. Taylor then fired four gunshots, striking Greenwood in the back.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Greenwood dead due to gunshot wounds. The woman involved in the initial crash was not reported to have been seriously injured.

Elijaih Taylor was taken into custody and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, authorities said.

The incident occurred along a heavily traveled stretch of Highway 90, a key roadway connecting inland Horry County communities such as Longs, Wampee, and Conway to coastal areas including North Myrtle Beach.

Highway 90 serves both residential neighborhoods and commercial traffic and has been the site of multiple traffic incidents in recent years, according to public safety records.

The investigation remains ongoing. Officials have not released additional details regarding the firearm used or whether Taylor knew Greenwood prior to the crash.

Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact local law enforcement.
