According to reports, officers conducted a welfare check at an apartment on West Sinto Avenue & North Howard Street in Spokane around 7 p.m. Thursday after the mom failed to pick her kids up from daycare. When they arrived, the woman was found deceased in a pool of blood.

Police viewed security footage and observed the woman entering into her apartment around 5 p.m. while arguing with Kirkpatrick.

At some point, Kirkpatrick “hip checked,” his way into her apartment.

Later, Kirkpatrick is seen exiting the apartment and entering a different apartment. He then returned before again leaving the area with a black bag.

Kirkpatrick was later detained for questioning in the woman’s death.

During questioning, Kirkpatrick denied knowing anything about the woman’s death.

Police arrested Kirkpatrick and he now faces second-degree murder charges.

Police say Kirkpatrick has 11 prior felony convictions, and was convicted of violating a no-contact order and interfering with a domestic violence report in the past month.

According to police records, on Wednesday, Spokane Police responded to a call claiming Kirkpatrick was trying to break into the victim’s door.

When she denied him entry, a neighbor said Kirkpatrick pushed his way into the apartment.

The officer advised the victim that she should get a no contact order after she refused to press charges.

It was the same officer who responded the next day to find the woman dead.

The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of family members.
