BELIZE. (THECOUNT) — New Orleans woman, J’Bria Bowens, an Xavier University graduate and nursing student a Louisiana State University, has been identified as the victim shot dead Friday while vacationing in Belize.

Bowens, 23, was fatally shot outside of a nitespot in San Pedro on the island of Ambergris Caye on Friday.

Two men have been arrested and charged with murder in the killing that occurred at Jaguar’s Night Club on Friday. A third man may have also been charged according to Facebook. A local news outlet identified the “fishermen,” as 33-year-old Lucio Salazar and 24-year-old Delson Paguada. The third man was identified as Tionne Paguada.

Bowens was pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

“The tourist was not the intended target, it just so happened she was in the line of fire between these two factions,” officials told 7 News Belize. The attackers used an assault rifle and the intended target had been a local gang leader.
