WOOD COUNTY, WV. (THECOUNT) — Phillip Christopher Kelley, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, has been identified as the suspect arrested in a Sunday fatal motorcycle crash in Wood County.

Kelley, 37, was arrested following a single-vehicle crash that left his female passenger dead in Vienna Sunday morning.

According to reports, Wood County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on the 100 block of Williams Highway in Vienna Sunday morning. When they arrived, a female was found unresponsive at the scene of an apparent Harley Davidson motorcycle crash.

Investigators learned that a male operator of the motorcycle had fled the scene of the crash, leaving the injured woman.

The unidentified female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

At some point, Kelley returned to the scene and was arrested for DUI Causing Death and Leaving the Scene with Death.

Kelly was transported to the Wood County Holding Center. He was later arraigned and released on $10,000 cash bond.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
