CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA. (THECOUNT) — Albert Pallone and Camillia Pallone, of Emerson, Georgia, have been identified as the victims in a Saturday evening double-fatal DUI crash in Cherokee County. William Bryan Abernathy, of Cartersville, Georgia, has been identified as the involved suspected DUI driver.
Emerson Mayor, Al Pallone, 65 and his wife Millie Pallone, 69, were both killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Canton Saturday evening. Abernathy, 50, was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence.

According to reports, Abernathy was operating a Chevrolet pickup truck on Knox Bridge Highway near Fields Landing Drive in Canton, when the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 4 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle then came into contact with a Hyundai Santa Fe, operated by Al Pallone. The force of the crash caused the Hyundai to rollover and collide with a GMC Savana van. The pickup also collided with a Mazda 3.
Abernathy, the driver of the Mazda and the GMC van driver, were all transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Al and Millie were pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Al was currently serving as the Mayor of Emerson, Georgia.
Abernathy was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, first-degree vehicular homicide, and serious injury by vehicle.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
