PINELLAS COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Nicholas Carusotti, of Pinellas Park, Florida, has been identified as the suspected impaired hit-and-run driver in a Sunday morning fatal vehicle-versus-bicycle collision in Pinellas County.

“Nick” Carusotti, 29, was driving a pickup truck allegedly impaired when the vehicle came into contact with a 64-year-old male riding his bicycle Sunday morning in Pinellas Park. After the collision, Carusotti reportedly fled the scene leaving the man injured in the roadway.

According to reports, Carusotti was operating a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on 62nd Avenue North near his 63rd Avenue North residence in Pinellas Park, when the vehicle collided with a man riding his bicycle Sunday morning.

Officials say, Carusotti then drove a short distance before abandoning the vehicle on-foot.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Pinellas Park Police later located Carusotti and determined that he was impaired.

He was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash involving death and DUI manslaughter.

The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
