PINELLAS COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Nole Karcher, of Saint Petersburg, Florida, has been identified as the pedestrian in a fatal vehicle strike Saturday night in Pinellas County.

Karcher, 44, was killed by a suspected DUI driver while walking a bicycle in Seminole Saturday night.

According to reports, Karcher was walking a bicycle near his home in the 5300 block Seminole Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, when he was struck by a vehicle, operated by 46-year-old Brian Thomas, of Kenneth City.

Karcher was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

Thomas was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance. Investigators said they found one pill on him. Thomas said he had a prescription for the pill but could not provide it.

Thomas was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

The investigation into the deadly incident remains ongoing.
