ARLINGTON, MA. (THECOUNT) — Charles Proctor, of Somerville, Massachusetts, has been identified as the victim in a fatal bicycle-versus-vehicle collision in Arlington Tuesday night.

Proctor, 27, was killed after being stuck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Arlington Sunday night. Another cyclist, a 32-year-old woman, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to officials, Proctor was operating a bicycle on Appleton Street near Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington, when he was struck by a passing Hyundai Sonata operated by a 20-year-old Cambridge man on Tuesday around 6:30 p.m.

The Sonata driver, who possessed a loaded shotgun in the rear of the vehicle, remained on the scene and cooperated with police. He was summoned to Cambridge District Court on a charge of possession of a loaded licensed shotgun or rifle in a motor vehicle.

Proctor was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt for trauma injuries.

According to social media, Proctor was originally from Fairfield, Connecticut.

The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
