LUBBOCK, TX. (THECOUNT) — Darrean Lee Nichols, of Lubbock, Texas has been identified as the victim fatally shot Friday morning in East Lubbock.

Nichols, 17, was shot dead and another teen, identified as Brianna “Bree” Garza, 18, was injured, following an unknown altercation in East Lubbock early Friday morning.

According to Lubbock Police, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of the 100 Avenue M in Lubbock, around 2:30 a.m.

Nichols and Garza were later found suffering from apparent gunshot injuries at a residence on East 1st Place.

Police determined that both teens were shot and then transported by private vehicle from 100 Avenue M, to a residence on East 1st Pl.

Darrean was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

Garza was transported by a private vehicle to an area hospital where she was treated and released.

The deadly incident remains under investigation.
