GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Janel Bembry of Galloway, New Jersey, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Monday morning hit-and-run crash in Atlantic County.

Bembry, 48, was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Galloway on Monday morning.

According to reports, Keneet Camacho, 38, of Absecon, NJ, was operating an SUV on Wrangleboro Road, when the SUV rear-ended Bembry’s vehicle. The initial crash caused Bembry’s vehicle to then cross centerlines and collide head-on with an SUV being operated by 61-year-old Gail Schifris of Galloway around 8 a.m. Monday.

Camacho then fled the scene and was later apprehended by officers in the area of Great Creek Road.

Bembry was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

Schifris was transported to a hospital with serious unknown injuries.

Camacho was since charged with criminally with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash and being an unlicensed driver involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash. Camacho was also charged with DWI and several motor vehicle violations.
