LAKE COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Michael J. Tunstall, of Hammond, Indiana, has been identified as the suspect arrested in the murder of a 5-year-old boy in Lake County Thursday.

Tunstall, 26, has been charged with killing his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son Thursday in Schererville.

According to authorities, the boy was found with bruising and bite marks. A subsequent autopsy concluded the boy died of blunt force trauma to his head and torso and had a ruptured left lung.

Tunstall is charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated battery, both felonies, according to documents filed Friday in the Superior Court of Lake County, Indiana.

Tunstall remains in custody at the Lake County Jail on a no-bail order.
