KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Jason Tolle, of Pierceton, Indiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Saturday night off-road vehicle crash in Kosciusko County.

Tolle, 45, was killed in an ORV crash on Saturday night near Ridinger Lake. The driver of the vehicle, Joel Zehner, 39, was taken into custody.

According to officials, Zehner was operating an ORV on EMS R4 with Tolle as his passenger, when the vehicle rolled over during a turn ejecting Tolle around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday. Toole then became pinned underneath the vehicle.

Toole was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

Following the crash, Zehner fled the scene of the crash and was later apprehended with the assistance of a K9 unit.

Officials say, Zehner brandished a firearm as police attempted to take him into custody. Officers convinced him to drop the weapon and he was arrested without further incident.

Charges against Zehner are pending.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
