AKRON, OH. (THECOUNT) — Mixed martial artist, Isaiah Chapman, a bantamweight fighter who most recently competed in Bellator MMA, has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting in Akron, Ohio Tuesday night. He was 30.

According to reports, the MMA fighter, known as “The Beast,” reportedly suffered a fatal gunshot injuries outside his home, located at, 377 Reed Ave in Akron Tuesday night.

Police responded around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to a call of shots fired on Reed Ave located in Akron Firestone Park neighborhood, according police.

When officers arrived, Chapman was found in the street suffering from apparent gunshot injuries.

Chapman was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot wounds.

Nicknamed “The Beast,” Chapman had a 9-4 record as a professional MMA fighter. In addition to Bellator, he competed in the World Series of Fighting and the Honor Fighting Championship. He had won three straight bouts before losing to Patchy Mix by submission at Bellator 232 in October 2019, reports 12up.

Chapman is survived by two daughters, Aubrey and Faith, and a son, Isaac.
