DAYTONA BEACH, FL. (THECOUNT) — NASCAR driver Ryan Newman was involved in a frightening Daytona 500 crash Monday while trying to hold onto the lead in the final lap. He was rushed to the hospital where he remains in a trauma unit in unknown condition.
Just days before the green and yellow flag was waved, Newman’s wife Krissie, announced on Twitter that the couple was separating after 16 years of marriage.

Following Monday night’s horror crash, Krissie tweeted a three letter response, “Omg.”

Newman’s car flipped several times and crossed the finish line on its roof, engulfed in flames Monday night, after the race finish was delayed one day dure to weather.
FOX broadcasters announced crews removed Newman from the car and he was being rushed to a hospital in the area.
Denny Hamlin won the Daytona 500 for the second-straight year. But as you might imagine, the mood was somewhat somber following the race, reports WKRG.
