DAVIESS COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Volunteer firefighter, Kendall Murphy, has been identified as the victim killed in Daviess County early Friday. Fellow firefighter, Colby Blake, has been identified as the DUI driver accused of crashing while responding to the same Barr Township vehicle crash.

Murphy, 27, of Montgomery was among two firefighters who had already responded to the crash, when Blake of Cannelburg approached the scene in his personal vehicle.

When Blake approached the scene, he struck two parked vehicles parked on the shoulder, one of which fatally struck murphy – who was standing outside of the vehicle.

The fatal crash occurred near US-50 & County Road 800 E in Daviess County, Indiana.

Murphy was pronounced dead on the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Blake went on to strike a third firefighter’s vehicle after hitting Murphy.

Blake was uninjured in the crash.

Police discovered he had a blood alcohol content of .21% at the time of the accident, reports MyWabashValley.

Blake is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and reckless driving. He’s being held in the Daviess County Security Center.
