KANNAPOLIS, NC. (THECOUNT) — North Carolina teen, Antonio Meadows Jr., has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday morning single-vehicle crash in the City of Kannapolis, according to officials.

Meadows, 16, was traveling as a passenger when he was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning, the City of Kannapolis confirmed.

According to reports, the fatal crash occurred near the intersection of Dale Earnhardt Blvd. and Rogers Lake Road in Kannapolis before 1 a.m.

Officials said when they responded to the scene they discovered a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro in a small grass lot with heavy front-end damage from striking a large tree, reports WCNC.

The driver, Demauree Crowder, was transported to Atrium Health Cabarrus in unknown condition.

Speed and alcohol are suspected to be factors in the crash, officials said.
