POLKTON TOWNSHIP, MI. (THECOUNT) — Coopersville, Michigan woman, Emily Chatman, has passed away in the hospital early Thursday after being shot in the head by her husband, 25-year-old Jason Chatman, on October 21, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Emily Chatman, 24, was shot at a home on State Road and 80th Avenue in Polkton Township. Her address listed publicly is 33 Forest Ln, in Coopersville, Michigan.

A motive or the details leading up to the deadly shooting was not provided by officials.

Jason Chatman was charged in late October with reckless discharge of a firearm causing serious injury.

Bennett said those charges may be upgraded.

“Investigators should meet with the prosecutor in the next few days to discuss it,” reports WOOD.

Jason Chatman is currently free on bond.
