FAYETTEVILLE, NC. (THECOUNT) — A deputy has been injured by gunfire at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center following a reported active shooter incident Wednesday morning, according to reports.

A suspect was taken into custody and the all clear given following tense moments at the medical facility on Wednesday just after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Police tweeted at 9:06 a.m. that the area had been rendered safe.

An employee told WRAL that the hospital was on lockdown.

Police advised people to stay away from the area, including Owen Drive and Village Drive.

The condition of the deputy was not provided. It is unclear if anyone else was injured in the incident.

The facility is located at, 1638 Owen Dr in Fayetteville, NC.
