FORT DODGE, IA. (THECOUNT) — Tailen Sturtz has been identified as the teenager injured in a Fort Dodge shooting Tuesday, according to reports.

Sturtz, 19, was shot in the back in the 1300 block of South 23rd Street on Tuesday.

An investigation is underway in Fort Dodge Tuesday after Sturtz was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the back, Fort Dodge police said Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a call of shots fired Tuesday, according to police. Officers arrived at the scene and provided medical care to a caucasian female until paramedics were able to arrive.

Sturtz was transported to an area hospital via Life Flight.

The victim was said to be transported in “stable condition.” The extent of the injuries were not provided by officials.

Police have talked to witnesses but feel they aren’t getting enough information in the investigation.

“We feel as though there are those that have direct knowledge of this incident, and we strongly encourage them to come forward with that information. We have reason to believe this incident involved individuals known to each other and have no evidence to support this was a random act,” reports KCCI.
