ST Petersburg, FL. (THECOUNT) — Senior Northeast High School football, Jacquez Welch, was seriously injured during a play on Friday night.

The NEHI Vikings football captain at Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, is now on life support after being tackled during the game against Osceola on Friday, according to reports.

After scoring to a 60-year run, Welch returned on defense in the next series. After a tackle, he remained down on the field.

Paramedics immediately took Welch to Bayfront Health, where it was found he had severe bleeding on the brain from a pre-existing condition, according to his coach, Jeremy Frioud, reports TheBL.
