SURFSIDE BEACH, SC. (THECOUNT) — Shawn Hamlet, of Raleigh, NC, has been identified as the victim in an incident near Myrtle Beach at a pool Sunday, according to reports.

Hamlet, 52, was visiting Myrtle Beach Resort when the incident occurred Sunday around 12:30 p.m.

Surfside Beach is located at, at 5905 South Kings Highway.

First responders arrived to the scene and Hamlet was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Further details of what led up to the incident were not provided by officials.

A cause of death was not provided.

The autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.

The Horry County Police Department is still investigating.
