AMARILLO, TX. (THECOUNT) — Texas woman, Melissa Ann Brown, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Amarillo Wednesday night, according to officials.

Brown, 42, was killed while crossing Amarillo Boulevard on Wednesday night, according to an Amarillo Police department news release.

According to the APD release:

At 10:44 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, APD officers were sent to the 800 block of East Amarillo Boulevard on a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian, reports ABC7Amarillo.

Brown was struck by a white SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe, that was eastbound on Amarillo Boulevard.

The SUV then fled the scene.

Brown was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.

An autopsy has been ordered.

Anyone with possible information on the deadly incident should contact police at 911 immediately.
