GREGG COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — James Michael Evans, of Kilgore, Texas, has been identified as the victim killed after being struck by a semi-truck on I-20 in Gregg County Friday morning.
Evans, 56, was operating a Ford Ranger pickup truck traveling on Interstate 20, when he exited the vehicle after experiencing mechanical issues before 2 a.m. Friday 1:56 a.m. about a half mile outside Kilgore.

According to officials, Evans and his passenger began pushing the disabled truck.
A semi-truck, driven by 42-year-old William Weimer, traveling westbound struck Evans and his pickup.
Evans was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Neither Weimer, nor the co-driver of the semi-truck were injured in the crash. DPS did not identify the passenger of the Ranger or say if the passenger had suffered injuries, according to CBS19.
The crash remains under investigation.
