STOCKTON, CA. (THECOUNT) — A controversial article about Bear Creek High School student, 18-year-old Caitlin Fink, who has admitted to “working in adult entertainment,” has run Friday in The Bruin Voice after the Lodi Unified School District said it would not stand in the way of its publication.
The decision is the latest development in a heated debate about First Amendment rights after teacher Kathi Duffel refused to allow the district to review the article prior to publication. Additionally, Duffel’s job was threatened if she did not comply.

The story was profiled on the Gary and Shannon show on KFI, Los Angeles.
According to RecordNet, the article, written by junior Bailey Kirkbey, is a profile of Fink and focuses on the challenges she faces, how she has managed to overcome them and how she has created a successful career for herself in the adult industry.
“In her freshman year she said her grades were really bad and she was associating with the wrong group of people,” Kirkbey told The Record last week. “It’s just profiling how she managed to overcome these kinds of obstacles and to get to where she is now, where she has a successful career and is living on her own money — she is self-reliant.”
Fink, who is estranged from family, said in a phone interview on Thursday that she felt it was important to share her story to help educate others on the reality of working in the adult industry. She then suggested that she’s not the only young person who may be thinking about entering the industry.
“People think that in p**n it’s all fun and games, but it’s not,” Fink said. “It actually takes a toll on your body and people don’t last long. You can’t stay in it forever.”
