LAFAYETTE COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Chandler Lancaster, of Mayo, Florida, has been identified as the victim in a fatal school bus vehicle crash Friday morning in Lafayette County.

Lancaster, 17, was killed and and three other teenagers hospitalized following a crash that occurred after 7:30 a.m. Friday on County Road 300, west of C F Hart Lane.

FHP officials say a school bus carrying 23 Lafayette County students was traveling eastbound on CR 300 when Lancaster’s Mazda pickup truck collided with the rear of the bus.

Troopers say Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force injuries.

The passengers in the pickup truck, three teenagers ages 14 to 17, were taken to the hospital. Troopers say a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl are in critical condition and a 14-year-old girl is in serious condition, reports WCTV.

There were no injuries reported to the students on the bus.

Lafayette County Superintendent Robert Edwards says the bus was headed to two locations, Lafayette Elementary School and Lafayette High School.

The investigation is ongoing.
