NORFOLK, VA. (THECOUNT) — Krishawn Beamon, of Chesapeake, Virginia, has been identified as the suspect arrested in the death of popular William & Mary football player 19-year-old Nathan Evans last week.

Beamon, 20, is charged with second-degree murder, robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the fatal shooting of Evans, of Mechanicsville.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 800 block of West 43rd Street on March 21. Upon arrival, officials located Evans suffering from gunshot injuries on the sidewalk.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Beamon was arrested Monday afternoon at his home in Chesapeake.

Evans was a sophomore running back at William & Mary and a former standout at Lee-Davis High School.

William & Mary held a campus-wide gathering for Evans Monday evening at Kaplan Arena. With hundreds of people in attendance, Evans was remembered as a great friend, a talented athlete and a loving son, reports WAVY.

Beamon is being held at Norfolk City Jail without bond.
