HAINES CITY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Lisa Bunce has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting early Saturday morning in Haines City, Florida.

Bunce, 56, was visiting a friend in Haines City, when her ex-boyfriend David Murdock, 60, (pictured,) showed up and shot her dead. Her friend, 66-year-old Sandra Andrews, was also shot by the suspect. She is expected to survive.

Murdock, of Polk County, Florida, is facing first degree murder charges.

Bunce, who had moved from the area to live in Ohio, was in town visiting friends in Florida for the holidays. She was scheduled to return to Ohio on January 8.

Bunce reportedly had a troubled relationship with the suspect that ended in 2017 when she moved to Ohio. She was back in town visiting friends, deputies say, and had received multiple calls from the suspect on Friday but had ignored them and blocked his number. In the past, the victim had told her friends that her ex-boyfriend made violent threats against her, deputies say. source

Bunce was found suffering from gunshot wounds in a closet of her friend’s home. Andrews was shot in the face, according to deputies.

She was later pronounced dead on the scene of gunshot injuries.

The surviving victim told police that “David” was the one who shot her.

Authorities say he Murdock committed the shootings and then called 911 to report his crimes.

When authorities arrived on-scene, Murdock was found sitting outside of the home with the murder weapon placed near him.

“Murdock told us he had to get rid of the Devil’ as an excuse for his actions,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. “Lots of people blame the Devil for their misdeeds, but it takes a person to pull a trigger. We are going to hold Murdock accountable for murdering his ex-girlfriend and trying to kill another woman.”

Murdock is facing charges for first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, armed burglary with assault/battery and shooting into a building. He is being held in the Polk County Jail with no bond.
