LINCOLN, NE. (THECOUNT) — Julie Schmieding, of Lincoln, NE, has been identified as the victim in an Oak, NE, single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

Schmieding, 35, was operating a Mitsubishi Outlander with her daughter, Tylea Schmieding, 15, as a passenger, when for unknown reason, the vehicle exited the roadway and crashed.

An off-duty Lancaster County sheriff’s deputy discovered the crash scene near Pennsylvania Ave, and N 1st St, in Oak, NE around 1 a.m.

Tylea was critically injured and transported to an area hospital.

Julie was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the crash, deputies said.

Tylea Schmieding was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her current condition was not provided.

The deputy called in officials, and an investigation revealed that the driver of a Mitsubishi Outlander, Julie Schmieding, 35, of Lincoln, was driving when the vehicle left the roadway to the right. The vehicle struck a utility box and a tree, officials said. Schmieding was one of two individuals in the car. Her daughter, Tylea Schmieding, 15, was also in the car. source

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash, official noted in a crash report.

The accident remains under investigation.
