RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY. (THECOUNT) — Brandy Renee Johnson, from Jamestown, Kentucky, has been identified as the victim shot and killed in a Russell Springs, KY, parking lot Saturday.

Johnson, whose age was not provided, died following a shooting in the parking lot at Coe’s Steak House, located at, Lakeway Drive, in Russell Springs, KY.

Police say, a man approached a woman in the Key Village Shopping Center parking lot, displayed a firearm and then opened fire, striking Johnson three time, according to authorities.

Johnson was transported to an area hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Police say the suspect, Jason Clark from Jamestown, fled the scene of the shooting, and was located in his car by State Police about an hour later. KSP says they conducted a traffic stop several miles south of Jamestown on Highway 127, and put Clark in custody. Clark is not charged with the shooting at this moment, but he was taken to the Russell County Detention Center. source

Police are still trying to determine the motive of the shooting, and if there was any connection between the suspected shooter and the victim.

The owner of Coe’s Steak House told local press Brandy worked at the restaurant for three years, and was a loyal employee.

According to Facebook, Johnson was an alum of Somerset Community College, and prior to that, Russell County High School.
