CENTURY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Jordan Cooper, of Brewton, Alabama, has been identified as the victim killed in a single-vehicle Tuesday night crash in Century, FL.

Cooper, 37, was operating a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, when he attempted to negotiate a curve and struck a power pole. The crash caused the vehicle to become submerged in a large body of water off Old Flomaton Road, in Escambia County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Jordan Cooper was traveling south on Old Flomaton Road approaching the right curve in the roadway at about 7 p.m. when he failed to negotiate the curve and crossed the center line. His Silverado then ran off the roadway to the left onto the grass shoulder. The front of the vehicle collided with a power pole located on the shoulder, continuing south where its front tire caught the drop off and traveled down the embankment. The vehicle came to a final rest completely submerged approximately 10 feet from the shore.

Cooper was pronounced deceased at the scene.
