ENGLEWOOD, CO. (THECOUNT) — A former star Clemson quarterback and current Broncos benchwarmer, Chad Kelly, has been arrested, according to reports.

Reports say, Denver Broncos backup quarterback Kelly, 24, was arrested just after 1 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of first-degree criminal trespassing near the Gothic Theatre, in Englewood, Colorado.

The 24-year old was taken to Arapahoe County Jail. According to the release, the investigation is ongoing.

“While officers were responding, they received information that the male was now inside the residence. The male was chased out of the resident by an occupant, and officers began to search the area. A short time later, a male matching the description provided by the homeowner, was located inside a black sport utility vehicle, in the area of the Gothic Theatre,” the release said. source

The Broncos issued a statement following the arrest:

“We are disappointed that Chad Kelly was arrested early this morning. Our organization has been in contact with Chad, and we are in the process of gathering more information.”

Kelly played for Clemson in 2013 and was 10-for-17 for 58 yards, but was dismissed following 2014 spring practice. He wound up at Ole Miss, and put up big numbers for the Rebels in 2016, completing 298-458 for 4,042 yards, with 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
