SOUTH GREENSBURG, PA. (THECOUNT) — South Greensburg mother, Leanne Schuler, has been charged with one count of child endangerment after her 5-year-old daughter alerted neighbors that her mother was overdosing on drugs.

Neighbors say the terrified but quick thinking 5-year-old girl, “saved her mother’s life,” by running outside to summons help after her mother ODed Sept. 28.

Upon arrival, police found an uncapped hypodermic needle located in the bathroom sink next to the child’s bedroom where the victim was located, according to an arrest report.

The child also managed to dial her mother’s boyfriend, who arrived on-scene a short time later.

Meanwhile, emergency medical technicians arrived Code-3 and administered naloxone to Schuler who snapped back to life.

Annie Taliercio, who lives two doors down from where the incident occurred, jumped in to help after the scared little girl explained the situation.

“She ran up and our neighbors across the street ran across… They discovered the mother on the floor… We’re not judging them at all, we just want them to be okay, Taliercio said. source

Taliercio says her husband is a pastor and drug counselor.

Schuler made a full recovery.
