Utah County Search and Rescue, Department of Public Safety, family, friends and community members have been searching the areas near the Aspen Grove Trailhead in the weeks following his disappearance.
On a Facebook page dedicated to the search for Jake, friends, and family indicated that they’re “confident” the body belongs to Routt:
“We want to thank with all of our hearts those of you who have followed our family and because of the efforts of someone following this Facebook page and volunteering on their own to search, that we found Jake. We cannot express our gratitude for the prayers and love shown to our family. We will update as things progress but for now, we continue to ask for prayers as the family begins the next steps in this journey. We may not be able to get to questions and comments over the next little while but know we are so grateful. Thank you.” source
