BERGEN COUNTY, NJ. (THECOUNT) — New Jersey man, Thomas Epper, has been named as the Bergen County DPW worker killed during a tree removal operation in Saddle River Thursday, according to county officials.
Epper, 48, a two-year heavy equipment operator, was transported to an area hospital after being fatally injured while performing a routine tree-clearing in Saddle River, officials said.

“The Bergen County family mourns with the Epper family,” officials said in a release. “I want to thank the first responders for their heroic actions together with the work crew that was present at the time.” source
Epper was transported in serious condition and was later pronounced dead, officials said.
