The woman’s identity has not yet been released as of late Friday.

Once officers were able to get inside the home just after 1:30 p.m. Friday, they found a man and a woman dead. TPD identified the man as Lucio. Not long before they went in, a loud explosion was heard inside the townhouse, in the 3500 block of SE 7th Street, and smoke started rising from the window.

Around 1 p.m., police said another woman was able to escape the home through a second story window. They said she was receiving medical care. Police are trying to determine if they were involved in a hostage situation. They also did not say who may have been shooting at officers sporadically throughout the night.

TheCount.com has also learned that Lucio made local headlines after being the victim of a police-involved shooting in 2011.

In 2011, Juan Lucio was shot by a Topeka police officer after pointing a gun at the officer following a chase involving a stolen vehicle.

A Topeka police officer shot Lucio in the stomach that night after he allegedly fled from a stolen car and pointed a weapon at the pursuing officer at S.E. 5th and Locust. The car had been taken during a home invasion at S.E. 4th and Lafayette, police said. source
